ประวัติ

ห้องปฏิบัติการวิจัยชีววิทยาระบบและชีวสารสนเทศ มหาวิทยาลัยเทคโนโลยีพระจอมเกล้าธนบุรี เป็นผู้บุกเบิกงานวิจัยด้านชีววิทยาระบบ (systems biology) ชีวสารสนเทศ (bioinformatics) และวิศวกรรมเมตาโบลิค (metabolic engineering) กลุ่มวิจัยมีความร่วมมือกับสถาบันต่างๆ ที่มีพื้นฐานความรู้หลายสาขาวิชา เช่น ชีวโมเลกุล ชีวเคมี วิศวกรรม คณิตศาสตร์ และวิทยาการคอมพิวเตอร์ ทำให้กลุ่มวิจัยมีความสามารถในการพัฒนาเทคนิควิธีการเพื่อเข้าใจสิ่งมีชีวิตจากข้อมูลจีโนม ( genome ) และข้อมูลโอมิค (omics) อื่นๆ

การวิจัยของห้องปฏิบัติการชีววิทยาระบบและชีวสารสนเทศ เน้นการวิเคราะห์เชิงระบบของ วิศวกรรมเมตาโบลิค ของสิ่งมีชีวิตต่างๆ เช่น ยีสต์ ( Saccharomyces cerevisiae ) มันสำปะหลัง ( Cassava ) พลาสโมเดียม ( Plasmodium ) เชื้อวัณโรค ( Tuberculosis ) และสาหร่ายสไปรูลินา ( Spirulina ) เพื่อเข้าใจชีววิทยาเชิงระบบของสิ่งมีชีวิตเหล่านี้ ซึ่งจะนำไปสู่การปรับปรุงสายพันธุ์ และการหาเป้าหมายยารักษาโรค กลุ่มวิจัยมีการพัฒนา แบบจำลองทางคณิตศาสตร์ เครื่องมือและโปรแกรมด้านชีวสารสนเทศ และฐานข้อมูลต่างๆ พร้อมกับการศึกษาด้านชีวโมเลกุลและการหมักในห้องปฏิบัติการ จากความพร้อมดังกล่าว ห้องปฏิบัติการชีววิทยาระบบและชีวสารสนเทศสามารถพัฒนาแบบจำลองทางคณิตศาสตร์ และจำลองพฤติกรรมของเซลล์ภายใต้การเปลี่ยนแปลงสภาวะแวดล้อมการเลี้ยงเซลล์ และการเปลี่ยนแปลงด้านยีนบนคอมพิวเตอร์ ควบคู่กับการเปรียบเทียบผลการทดลองในห้องปฏิบัติการ

วัตถุประสงค์

  • เพื่อพัฒนาทักษะความรู้พื้นฐานด้านชีววิทยาระบบและชีวสารสนเทศ
  • เพื่อประยุกต์ใช้เครื่องมือด้านชีววิทยาระบบและชีวสารสนเทศในการพัฒนาเทคโนโลยีชีวภาพในประเทศไทย
  • เพื่อพัฒนาและสนับสนุนทรัพยากรบุคคลในด้านชีววิทยาระบบและชีวสารสนเทศ

  • การศึกษาชีววิทยาระบบเพื่อปรับปรุงปริมาณและคุณภาพของแป้งจากต้นมันสำปะหลัง ( Cassava )
  • การศึกษาหาลำดับเบสดีเอ็นเอของสาหร่ายสไปรูลินา ( Spirulina )
  • การวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลของโรคเบาหวาน โรคกระดูกพรุน
